A Christmas Carol at The Stables

Fri 15 Oct 2010

This is the play which created the saying ‘Bah-Humbug!’ and gave us enduring characters such as Scrooge, Bob Cratchit,  Tiny Tim and the ghosts of Christmas Present, Past and Future. ‘A Christmas Carol’ will play at The Stables from 21st December 2010 to 8th January 2011 inclusive.

Dramatic masks, fascinating puppets and a magical set combine to create an entrancing heady brew, both moving and comic. This festive performance is suitable for age 7+ and includes the company’s ever-popular ‘backstage tour’. Artistic Director Russell Dean says "Dickens’ ghosts, grotesques and eccentrics leap from the pages of “A Christmas Carol” straight into Strangeface’s colourful world of extraordinary masks and puppets, original song and soundscapes. Charles Dickens’ enduring tale and Strangeface’s inimitable style is a combination not to be missed!"

True to the soul of the story, the company offers audience members the chance to share their stage. Part of Strangeface's unique style is to invite the audience behind the scenes at the end of the show to walk round the set, try out the masks and handle the puppets - or just ask a question.

Chief Executive of The Stables, Monica Ferguson said: “We are delighted to welcome Strangeface and its inventive brand of theatre to our stage this Christmas.  Not only will the audience be enthralled, but children of all ages (and adults alike) will have the opportunity to ‘get up close and personal’ with the masks, explore the amazing set and talk to the puppeteers after the show.  This really will be a unique experience for everyone.”

Performance Dates and Times:  A CHRISTMAS CAROL will run at The Stables, Milton Keynes, from Tuesday 21st December to Saturday 8th January.  Performance times vary and ticket prices start from £14.50.  Please contact the Box Office for full details: 01908 280800.  www.thestables.org
