Aspers Group, who will be opening a casino in Xscape,  Milton  Keynes in the Autumn,  has won the top award of ‘Socially Responsible Operator of the Year, Land Based’  at the International Gaming Awards.

Beating off stiff competition the judges recognised that Aspers Group has gone the extra mile in implementing procedures and safeguards for consumers.

Richard Noble, COO of Aspers comments; “I am delighted that Aspers’ commitment to socially responsible gaming has been recognised at the International Gaming Awards. We have long championed the promotion of responsible gambling in the UK through our unique and now well established Community Action for Responsible Gaming (CARG). We are firmly committed to the belief that our casinos are integral contributors to the communities in which they operate, and we actively encourage a collective approach to ensuring our customers can enjoy gambling in our casinos safely and enjoyably.”

Marieanne Carmody Weir, Group Compliance Manager at Aspers Group further adds; “We consider our response to socially responsible gaming very seriously and through CARG, a voluntary body first introduced by Aspers in 2005, we work closely with the police, council and others to come up with ways to avoid problem gambling within the community.”

Made up of gambling charities including GamCare, religious bodies and community representatives, CARG seeks to constructively address gambling issues of all types in the community and operates in all cities that have Aspers casinos.

Nigel Hartland, General Manager Aspers MK said that CARG MK has already been formed and he is delighted with the positive support that CARG has attracted from a wide range of community representatives within the city.

CARG has an independent Chairman, Graham White, OBE who was formerly Chief Inspector of the Gaming Board for Great Britain and is a senior and well-respected figure in the gambling industry.
