Tue 06 Aug 2013

MK Dons announced their latest Club partnership today, as they continue to build the
relationship with Milton Keynes based Smith Construction Group. The partnership enables
the company, which is the largest earthworks and civil engineering contractor in the city, to
not only support the Club as they move into the new season but in particular sponsor the
Academy and invest in local football development.

Ian Smith, Group Managing Director says, “All business is about partnerships but this is
more than business for us. We hope very much that as a Club partner we can help push
the Dons on to greater and greater success. What’s good for the Club is good for the city;
what’s good for the city is good for Smith Construction Group. For all that, we’re fans and
a number of us go to the games regularly. We want to be involved and we want to win!”

He continues, “As employers it actually gives us great pride to take young people into the
business, teach them useful skills and watch them grow into confident, productive
individuals - and that’s what the academy is for too. You could say that a strong academy
is all about “sustainable development,” which in our world is something which we are
passionate about.”

Smith Construction was founded in 1994 as a family business by Managing Director Ian
Smith who was born and bred in Milton Keynes. Following steady growth, the
company is now a multi-faceted organisation with a turnover in excess of £12 million and
includes Smith Recycling and Smith Skips within the organisation's portfolio of services.

One of Smith Construction’s most recent projects saw them work on the Eastern Expansion of Milton Keynes which involves major earthworks and infrastructure, to enable the construction of 2500 homes, schools and amenities. Unrivalled local knowledge and a rich supply of expertise is a powerful combination for success in this industry.

James Parkinson, Head of Partnerships at MK Dons says, “The partnership with Smith
Construction will leave a legacy. Not only were they involved with the construction of
stadiummk, but now they are supporting the next generation of footballers in this city.”
