Milton Keynes College Summer Showcase Is One To Remember at Middleton Hall

Mon 30 Jun 2014

A weeklong exhibition of work from across the Faculty of Creative Service Industries at Milton Keynes College has taken place at Middleton Hall in the Centre:MK.

The event completely open to the public ran from Tuesday 17th June until Sunday 22nd and featured a variety of exciting and original work from the College’s hard-working artists, photographers, musicians, beauty therapists and more. The student’s final artwork was assessed at the exhibition, providing these students with real life experience of exhibiting in a large, public space.

In recent years the Milton Keynes College Summer Showcase has been well attended and highly praised by its visitors and this year was no different.  With the mid-week attendees enjoying relaxing beauty treatments and take-home photographic portraits, to the weekend guests being thrilled by back-to-back fashion shows and high energy performances from the College’s singing super star Bailey McConnell, it really was one to remember.

Bailey, a BTEC music student at Milton Keynes College shot to fame after featuring on this years Britain’s Got Talent, and despite leaving the competition in the later stages has maintained a large fan base, who flocked to Middleton Hall on Saturday to catch a glimpse of the young star performing two songs.

Ten lucky people even received free t-shirts thrown to the crowd by Bailey as he surprised to audience with a walk down the catwalk during his peers’ fashion show.

The Summer Showcase not only gave the students a chance to exhibit, practice and sell their work to the public, it also marked the start of the College’s Summer Recruitment Campaign. Staff were on-hand at the MK College pop-up clinic offering advice and informing potential new students about the wide range of full time, GCSE, A’level, BTEC, courses and Apprenticeships available, as well as launching a fun #MakeItYourSelfie competition providing the chance to win an iTunes vouchers and an iPhone5s.
