UCMK prepares to welcome first cohort of students

Thu 16 Aug 2012

Among the students picking up their A-Level results today will be the first ones to study for their university degrees at the new UCMK in Milton Keynes.

A partnership between University of Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes Council, UCMK is offering foundation degrees in Business Management and Leadership, Innovation and Management and top up courses – BA (Hons) in Management Practice and BSc (Hons) in Computer Networking.

Head of Admissions, Susie King says, “Places are still available at UCMK for those who have not already applied, have not received an offer from their first choice university or whose grades are better than they expected.  It’s important for students not to panic.  Our clearing hotlines will have more than fifty operators waiting for their calls to tell them about places and courses available.”
UCMK Dean, Professor Keith Straughan, says, “This is a really exciting moment for Milton Keynes and for all the staff and students who will be working together to achieve excellence at this new seat of learning.  All the courses we offer are very employment-focussed.  The Foundation degrees have been designed with input from business so we know they’re going to be particularly relevant for finding employment.  We’re incredibly flexible so students can be in paid work while studying part-time or by distance learning.”

To contact Clearing dial 0800 0130925 or call in to the University of Bedfordshire’s Luton campus between 10am and 3pm from Thursday, August 16 until Friday August 31.
